The author has wanted to be a writer for a long time, ever since she was a kid. Fish was around eight or nine years old when she confided to the mother living next door that she would like to be a writer. The only thing was is that she didn’t like having to write the stories down. However, that didn’t stop her. When Aileen was twelve years old, she penned most of her first novel after reading S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders.

She has written some early works as an adult author. These include a story set in young adult fantasy, a parallel world tale that was based on the mythology of Native Americans. The author wrote the story with some help from Ray Faraday Nelson while she was attending the novel writing workshop put on by Writer’s Digest. The stories that she were writing at that time fall mainly into the category of the dark fantasy genre. She would go on to sell her story “Saturday Night”, which was published in After Hours Magazine in their Summer 1991 issue.

Besides loving reading and writing stories, Fish has other hobbies that she enjoys pursuing. She loves quilting and does it a lot. She is also a big fan of auto racing. She has a to do list, but usually finds that there just isn’t enough time or hours in the day or week (or maybe even a lifetime) to finish all that she wants to get done. Somehow, there’s always another story or even a quilt that wants her attention.
